HOOP IT UP TO HOST 3 ON 3 INDOOR CLASSICS
TO BENEFTING COACHES VS. CANCER®
Denver, CO, August 24, 2009
– BEST (Blue Entertainment Sports Television) is proud to announce that it will produce its first annual Hoop It Up 3 on 3 Indoor Classic to benefit Coaches vs. Cancer, which is a joint effort by the American Cancer Society, Inc, and the National Association of Basketball Coaches,.
The 2009 Hoop It Up Indoor Classic to benefit Coaches vs. Cancer is a series of indoor, three-on-three basketball tournaments, hosted by high schools and sports complexes across the country to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer and as a fundraiser for the participating schools. In addition, a $10 per team entry donation will directly benefit the American Cancer Society’s work to save lives by helping people stay well, helping people get well, by finding cures and fighting back.
“We are thrilled to partner with Coaches vs. Cancer for the 2009 Hoop It Up Indoor Classic,” said Dan Cramer, executive vice president of BEST Experiential Properties. “The events will add a new element to the Hoop It Up tour, and it will be especially rewarding to be benefiting such a great cause.”
Coaches vs. Cancer, which began in 1993 as a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the NABC, raises funds to support the Society’s mission of fighting for every birthday, threatened by every cancer in every community. Through their passion for the game and their promotion of healthy lifestyles, coaches have elevated awareness at their schools, in their communities and throughout the nation, oftentimes emphasizing how cancer has touched them personally.
“The steps that Hoop It Up is taking in support of Coaches vs. Cancer and the American Cancer Society will make a significant difference in the fight against the disease,” said Lon Kruger, head basketball coach at UNLV. “As an active member of the Coaches vs. Cancer Council, it is great to have Hoop It Up join our team.”
The Hoop It Up 3 on 3 Indoor Classic tournaments provide local players – ages 8 and older – with the opportunity to qualify for the Hoop It Up World Championships at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, Ky., in the summer of 2010.
The Hoop It Up tour is one of BEST Experiential Properties’ flagship events, in addition to Kick It 3v3 (soccer) and Let It Fly (flag football). The tours have provided games, concessions and entertainment to approximately two million participants and 12 million spectators during the past 20 years.
