Denver, CO, July 28, 2009 - Congratulations to the LORD’S GYM SAINTS who won the 2009 Hoop-It-Up World Championships in the 6’ and over Competitive Division #2, just under Top Gun. The Saints have won 4 out of 5 World Championships, 2005 thru 2009, including the last 3 in a row. This is surely an unprecedented accomplishment by the team from Cincinnati. This year's team defeated FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND, a team from Kentucky, 21-19 on a last second 2-pointer by JoJo Dowell, to win the championship. Players include Matt Nichols, Antonio Price, JoJo Dowell, Jamont Dowell, Ronald Smith and Vernon McCoy (Coach D).

The Lord’s Gym Soldiers placed 2nd in the 19-29 year old 6’ and under division, while the Lord’s Gym Young Soldiers also placed 2nd in the 13-14 year old boys division.

"Playing basketball and competing in Hoop It Up tournaments around the country are the tools I use to attract young boys and youth off the street in Over-the-Rhine, Cincinnati, Ohio, " says Pastor Al Mosley, the coach of all the Lord's Gym teams."In return the boys (and girls) abide by strict rules, conduct, and participate in bible studies."  Pastor Al emphasizes each person's personal relationship with God and personal conduct that honors God. "They are expected (sometimes taught) to behave, respect authority, and get their education."
